The documentary Root Cause demonstrates how an unsuspecting root canal can cause health issues affecting the rest of the body. This is one of the premises of which biological dentistry is based.
Conventional dentistry believes it is acceptable to leave a dead tooth in the body. If a toe or appendix becomes necrotic, doctors will swiftly remove it. But if a tooth dies, it is mummified with a root canal and left in the jaw.
Teeth are little organs. They have their own blood and nerve supply called the pulp. A tooth becomes necrotic or dies when bacteria invade this area or from trauma. Usually, but not always, pain results. To alleviate the discomfort, a dentist will perform a root canal in which the offending nerve tissue and the corresponding blood supply to the tooth is removed. But this does not address the pool of bacteria which has formed as an abscess at the tip of the root.
There is no way to remove this without extracting the tooth. Another problem with this procedure is that small nerve branches can extend from the main chamber in any direction. These are almost impossible to see, let alone clean out. Additionally, the majority of the tooth is made of dentin which consists of microscopic tubules stacked one on top of another. If these tiny tubules were lined up side-by-side they would extend about three miles per tooth.
The nerve and blood supply communicates and extends into these little tubes as well. When a tooth is alive, fluid from the pulp flushes them out, but when this tissue is removed, the tubules become dried out and create a perfect environment for anaerobic bacteria to hide, proliferate and create toxins. Even antibiotics cannot reach this area because the blood supply to the tooth has been deftly removed. However, anytime pressure is applied to the tooth as in chewing, these pathogens and their toxins spill out of the tooth into the body and can reside in different areas peripherally usually targeting weaker organs.
Another dilemma with root canals is the energetic component. In the late 1940s, Dr. Reinhard Voll, a medical doctor and engineer, discovered and documented energetic connections between certain teeth and specific organs and body parts. These relationships are understood by biological dentists today. For example, an upper molar can adversely affect the hip, knee, thyroid, stomach or breast. In the movie, it was a front tooth which corresponds to the kidneys, prostrate and adrenals.
Another factor is when the body recognizes anything dead or foreign, it triggers the immune system to eliminate the offender. White blood cells are attracted to the byproducts of the bacteria in the tubules, but they are 20 times the size of the tubule, so they stay around the root area waiting to catch any straying pathogen. Unfortunately, this can create a shortage of immune response cells that are needed to fight off an infection, disease or even cancer.
These are the ways a root canal can become a stain on the immune system and cause issues as were demonstrated in Root Cause. Healing occurs when burdens, such as root canals, are removed. This allows optimal functioning of the immune system. A visit to a biological dentist can help keep your mouth, and the rest of your body, happy and healthy.
